This is a stand alone short story. A Russian eagle owl and a domesticated Siamese cat become accidentally mated. Clan elders want the situation corrected immediately because "cats and birds cannot mate." However, the shifter pair did not expect a sentence of spending a whole day and night in the Fraflungg Valley with its evil denizens and the psychotic creations of mad wizards. The elders expected only one survivor. But both survived and armed with Ophelia’s “shiny things,” they start a new life where they prove that cats and birds could become mates and more.
