Book Two in the Mastermind Duet “I don’t want to be a princess. I don’t want to be pretty. I want to fight!” “But you’re in a castle. You’re in a princess tower.” “Nope! I’m in a…” I try and think of the word I read from Lola’s vocabulary homework. “A fortress.” “A fortress, huh? So you can fight?” “Yup. Made of diamonds.” “Well, of course. You can fight in style.” “Diamonds are the strongest rocks in the world. I want to be a diamond. Pretty and sparkly and strong.” “Then a diamond you’ll be, Delilah.” Lilah started working at Jerzy Girls to find revenge on the family who hurt hers and got so much more than she bargained for. Now just a few months later, she’s infiltrating the family in ways she didn’t expect and doing it alongside Dante Romano, the man who came into her life with more secrets than answers. Can they work together to take down the family and start anew? Will Lilah be able to earn the loyalty of the men before it’s too late?

And we’re back! This is the second in the Mastermind duet, so you will need to have read Ivory Tower first. Lilah and Dante have been secretly married, and her engagement to Dante’s nephew has just been announced as a way to bring the Russo and Carluccio families together. We are finally privy to Dante’s plan! after Lilah and readers being kept in the dark through the whole first book. They will bring all the men in the family to their side away from his father and nephew to rule together.
The relationship between Lilah and Dante is much more solid in this book. Lilah is confident, and that shows in their banter and how she carries herself around the very delicate situation they find themselves in with both families. In other words, Lilah is badass bitch FINALLY, and Dante recognizes it. He loves her for it. The epilogue? Perfection – so well done Morgan!
