We’re just here to “help”
This list critically examines the history of U.S. intervention in other countries, unpacking not only regime changes, but how it’s sold to the public. These books explore the political, economic, and strategic interests driving U.S. intervention, the manufactured consent that make it palatable at home, and the severe consequences and destabilization that inevitably follow abroad.
Ps. This is my first list so I’d appreciate any feedback & recommendations of reads to add

The Vietnam War
The Vietnam War was the high water mark of American power and prestige. Before Vietnam, Americans believed in the honesty and decency of their leaders, that American values could be easily exported, that our mission would succeed. That faith bled away in the jungles of Southeast Asia. This list covers the origins of the war to its closing consequences, from the Mekong Delta to the Central Highlands to the skies over Hanoi and conference rooms in Paris.

Recommended on The Ezra Klein Show
Any and all books guests recommend at the end of each episode of The Ezra Klein Show from The New York Times. I haven’t listened to every episode and this list is obviously very incomplete, so please feel free to let me know about missing ones!
