These are books I am going to start reading before bed, because my regular selection of reading material just really riles me up. Inspired by two posts from the Substack Feeling! Magazine by Jenna O'Brien.

Books with Éowyn-type characters; women with an inclination to the martial or glorious but who are often frustrated or blocked in, or mocked for, their ambitions. ("A cage," [Éowyn] said. "To stay behind bars, until use and old age accept them, and all chance of doing great deeds is gone beyond recall or desire.”)

Non-exhaustive list of foundational reading for the fantasy genre; either foundational texts or classics that influenced the development of the genre and its conventions. Also some key modern texts + criticism.

kids are great. however as a person who doesn’t want kids, I have fatigue around how many novels position motherhood as the epicenter of women’s lives. i’m gathering books here about women in their late twenties and older that don’t focus on motherhood or children. I haven’t read all these fyi!! plz share recs; i’m mostly looking for lit fic.

This list will showcase the vast amount of Scottish Literature available, from the late medieval period to the present day. Partly inspired by there only being a few Scottish books on the 'British Classics' quest. Alba gu bràth!
