It really pains me to say that, although I enjoyed this series, it was not the engaging tale I was expecting from Sawyer Bennett. She is one of my favorites, but this is her first foray into paranormal romance. The story is interesting and I liked the world building. Where I find this author usually shines is chemistry, and I found that lacking in these books.

In this final story of the series, it seems Finley finally has found some common sense. There are still a couple of questionable decisions, but for the most part even those are understandable. With the maturity of Finley, I was hoping to feel more of the supposed unbreakable connection between her and Carrick. Alas, that wasn’t to be.

While I had issues with the chemistry for the main couple, I still found a great connection between the group as a whole. They work well together and their different friendships really felt authentic. Finley is finally going to get her sister and everyone is currently on the same page and working together. I love all of those parts of this story.

I’m still curious about Carrick’s brothers. Which means I will read more if the author decides to do another series featuring one of them. As I said, she hasn’t done paranormal before and I think it takes some authors a bit of an adjustment to change genres. She just needs to find her balance.
