books featuring older women protagonists, age 30 and up, in sci-fi and fantasy. for books containing multiple povs/protagonists, older fmcs should hold equal weight and presence in the story as other mcs. ideally, aiming for more women centred additions, but open to all suggestions and feedback!

Stories that follow the New Weird genre. Adventures that mix reality with fantasy, horror, science fiction, and literary fiction. Each a distinct and unique story to envelope your mind.

my favorite genre. elvia wilk’s essay is the best on what this genre is, but here’s an excerpt: “Weird knowledge does not deny the capacity of the human mind and body to produce knowledge, but it does not reduce the world to human subject experience either. Nautical: of relating to sailors, sailing, or ships.

I have not read almost any of these, so sorry if a lot of these aren’t that good lol. There seem to be very few quintessential nautical horror books, but a whole lot of possibly middling ones.

A set of books all in the genre of ‘Weird’ fiction, specifically sci-fi/fantasy.

They do not want your songs; they want your wood and your iron. These are the krakens of the fog, the massive serpents of the tide, and the whales with enough spite to sink a fleet. They see our ships as intruders and our sailors as snacks. They are the reason we fear the horizon. We call them... the Ship-Breakers.
