The Merger (Brewer Family, #4)

Adriana Locke

Enjoyment: Quality: Characters: Plot:

Crushes are harmless—unless they involve your best friend’s grumpy, off-limits brother. Gannon Brewer is the epitome of my type. He’s at least ten years older than me, emotionally unavailable, and highly disagreeable—a walking red flag in a tailored suit. But do I listen to that? No. In fact, when his office plants start dying, I convince myself that I can ignore the pheromones and save the philodendron. Now I’m in his office every week, dodging sinful smirks and heated stares, reminding myself to reach for the watering can—not him. But one late-night “ivy incident” changes everything. Suddenly, we’re sneaking around, indulging in a steamy, forbidden fling that’s supposed to be nothing more than (a lot of) fun. After all, he swears he’ll never fall in love. I assure him that I only want one thing, and it’s not his heart. But the closer we get, the more lines we blur, and the harder it becomes to keep our promises … Especially when the secret I’m keeping threatens to shatter everything.

    ARC Review:

    Tropes:
    Age gap
    Surprise pregnancy
    Workplace romance
    Best friends brother
    Grumpy x sunshine
    Opposites attract

After reading Ripley’s story, I was kind of curious about Gannon. And his book is finally here.

Imagine grumpy, broody, no nonsense, billionaire Gannon hiring free spirited down on her luck, plant saving heroine Cary and it turns into a no hearts attached but are attached romance.

It’s an opposite attract kind of thing. Hiding relationship. Sneaking around.

I loved how he wanted her, but didn’t show it until it was time to show it, and I loved how she was the opposite of him, show it until you make it. From the get go. When Gannon fell, he fell. The grumpy man became a happy man.

It was also clear to see that they had different family structures. Gannon is close with his mother and brothers and that’s remained true throughout the series. Cary on the other hand, had a pretty horrible father, and I was ready to throw hands at some point, alas it ended well.

    The mini journals!!!! Swoon!!!!

It’s always the broody ones with the craziest thoughts.

    Enjoyment: Quality: Characters: Plot:

Carys is just starting out her plant business when she has a great idea of expansion. She shares they idea with best friend Tate. He informs her that his brother Gannon has to make the decision.
Carys knows that pitching to Gannon won't be easy, as she is usually attracted to men just like him.
Gannon is a 40 yr old grumpy man who doesn't have a heart.
They have a chemistry that is undeniable. Will they act on those feels or keep it all business?

I like Carys. She is just trying to make her way in the world by doing something she loves. She has a smart mouth, which is actually very funny. Gannon is the typical CEO type. He is very sweet, though, once Carys gets to know him. They make a cute couple. They definitely have bed chem!
