Recs if you like The Last Sun...

Stories featuring queer, polyam main characters! Mostly adult books, but contains some YA as well. Although the book doesn't have to have a heavy romantic focus, the polyam rep must be in the MCs, not in side characters. 🫶 (Note: some books in this list are series starters that don't contain polyamory until after the first book!)

Do you feel like you've read everything there is to read? Or get annoyed that the same books are on all the rec lists? Well, here are some more obscure masterpieces!

Some of the covers are terrible - especially among the older or self-pubbed books; there's a few YA in here; and some that are science fantasy rather than 'pure' fantasy. But trust me: they're all EXCELLENT. (And if you already love a bunch of these, let's be friends!)

I will list the first book in the series and the upcoming book. I'm not including series from romances where it's hard to tell if the books are standalone or not (for my health🙃).

(I'm already questioning my sanity on how I'm going to maintain this, I wish we could make collaborative lists on here 😭)

I've been a fan of card magic for quite some time and tarot is so in!

Books where two (or more? if these exist I WANT THEM) characters are bound up in some way—inside each other's heads, connected by a spell, entangled by technology—the important part is the forced proximity and the element of technology or magic, or something else over the top that would not normally happen! And maybe they're in love or they fall in love as well...

100% open to recommendations, I want to know about ANY books you think might fit 🙏

Where our heroes have both access to powers beyond our understanding and also access to a toilet

Happy International Non-Binary People's Day! Here's a pile of books that our rec list contributors love that feature non-binary representation (some explicit, some subtextual/interpreted - so your interpretation may differ, and that's okay!). (This list is presented by Duck Prints Press, the indie publisher focused on publishing queer art and stories by queer creators! A group of us collaborate to make these recommendations.)

I have not read all so if some are misplaced, let me know! Also, recs are welcomed!

Tall, dark and morally ambiguous has its time and place okay? But sometimes we just need the love of a sweet, sweet man who would never harm us 😌

Edited to add: do you KNOW how hard it was to find even five books?? I had to scroll back through my finished reads all the way to 2021! 😂 either I have Tall, dark and morally ambiguous taste, or it’s a rare trope. Either way, now starts my mission to seek them out. This will be a mix of genres, m/f m/m and possibly trigger warnings.

Found family at its finest in sci-fi and fantasy. This is one of my favourite themes and these are some of my fave reads within that group ❤️

Some books are part of a series, but only the first book is on the list, even if the family takes some time to develop beyond that.

Either historical or modern. Sometimes entirely made up.

“Solve crime” is used very loosely here; I just wanna see the gays partnering up to save the world—and each other along the way 🥹
