A note from Audrey: Some series can be read out of order - this isn’t one of them. Start with Alpha and welcome to Ghost Mountain! Lissa chose to stay, to stand with the tattered remnants of her pack as they try to make themselves whole again. She somehow didn’t expect it to try her patience quite so much. Which means it might be time for a meek bookkeeper to take matters into her own hands. Before her wolf does.

I like seeing Lissa come into herself more, and start to grow into her role amongst her family and pack, and see how she has abilities to help her loved ones heal and to see a future together. I like learning more about the various numbers of the pack, there are still so many characters and points of view that it is sometimes hard to keep people straight. The Sentinel Rio is really interesting to me, and the beta Kel, as well as the shadow leader Bailey. It felt like there were... politics/ hidden meaning/ 'playing the game' between Hayden and Bailey. Honestly with others too, there was a lot of ~seeing and deducing what is needed and then trying to meet those needs, even at a personal and emotional expense. There is still overall low plot, some dominants are all still on the outside, some movement with the secret members being pulled in. It's been about 2 months since the start of book one; and Lissa accepts her role as Hayden's mate. The emphasis is still so much on growth, rebuilding, and pack, I can see how the romance plotline can feel somewhat thin. Some reviewers felt that there were still too many points of view, which I understand but also I think is the point. This book is full of internal conflicts and is sometimes quiet and slow, but I also felt that it was deeply moving and psychological. Lissa is a survivor but she struggles a lot with guilt, which was interesting to read about. I don't know why it is hard to remember after I'm done reading what has happened with these books!?
