This Christmas season rom-com is perfect for a December read. I'm glad I came across it and added it to my list of holiday-themed reads for this year. This one features Tessa and Tre. Tessa is a girl from New York City who has lost her last living relative and has closed her bakery because it failed. She's lost and not sure what she is going to do next. She goes to a Christmas party and they have a psychic there. The psychic gives her a cryptic message about finding her true love. Tessa decides that the clues describe her ex-boyfriend Carter and embarks on a trip to Portland to let him know. Tre is a soldier who has returned from overseas and is going home to visit his family in Portland. They fight over a seat in first class and that is just the beginning of the hilarity and hijinks that take place on their journey to Portland. Along the way, they learn what matters in life and love and think maybe they have found it in each other.

The audio was a quick listen while I worked. That’s the only plus. The story was so disjointed and you had to suspend belief… a lot. The chemistry was lacking and it felt like a very hallmark-esque type romcom. Very vanilla couple with silly hijinks. Then once the MCs get together the dirty talk took over… so much so that it was distracting. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love spicy books but it felt so weird and over the top. Also… stupid third act break up.
