Recs if you like Alas, Babylon...
hopeful post-apocalypse
also known as โcozy catastrophes,โ these are books that deal with a post-apocalyptic and/or dystopian world but are still hopeful, uplifting, or just leave you with more of a postive feeling!
Bleakness Is My Weakness
For when you need to wallow in melancholy and misery: a collection of pessimistic, cynical, downbeat, depressing, doom and gloom fiction for my disillusioned friends.
More to come!
Got the holiday blues? Check out my list Christmas with the Cranks!
Found Family at the End of the World (And After)
Apocalyptic reads with a big focus on found family. This list meshes all kinds of apocalypses, zombies included.
Recommendations extremely welcome - gimme alllll the found families surviving together! ๐
First of a series only, except in cases where it's further into the series that the found family element really kicks in.
My favourites are the top half of the list, if you want a place to start ;) (There's a few at the very bottom that I haven't yet read myself, so no shade to them!!)
3.6 roentgen... not great, not terrible
A list dedicated to nuclear energy, nuclear disasters, the Atomic Age, and radiation. Mostly non-fiction, but I decided to include some fiction as well.
It's the End of the World!
Apocolyptic fiction for all the readers opting to trade our dystopia for a different one. Typically jam-packed full of zombies, and fallout, and viruses, oh my!
Audie Award-Winning Audiobooks from 2010-2015
Iโm an audiobook lover, and Iโm always looking for great audiobooks! Rather than just listing my favorites, I thought Iโd make a list of audiobooks that have won Audie Awards from 2010-2015.
There are so many, so I stuck to specific categories. Not all categories are in all years, so there is some inconsistency. I included the following categories:
- Audiobook of the year
- Autobiography/Memoir
- Erotica
- Spanish
- Fantasy
- Fiction
- History/Biography
- Humor
- Horror
- Literary Fiction
- Classics
- Middle Grade
- Mystery
- Nonfiction
- Romance
- Science Fiction
- Short Stories/Collections
- Thriller/Suspense
- YA/Teens
- Paranormal

Happy listening!
D20 Gladlands
Mini Dimension 20 series set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland where empathy rules and kindness matters when helping community survive. From blood drives to sunken malls, you have such complex characters that brought me to tears (i cry a lot but truly a beautiful conversation about grief). Found family, community, and grief all come together in this survival season. These books do not guarantee a care bear feeling.

apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic fiction
The Florida Lit Variety
Fiction books of varying genres set in the USA's Sunshine State. Some books highlight the beauty of Florida, while others highlight the dicey history of the state. And some do neither; they're just here for a good time! There's so much more to our state than beaches, spring break, and amusement parks. Not all books written by Florida locals.
