books that are well known in the therapy & mental health world - often read & recommended by therapists, social workers, and other professionals in the field 💕

I’m currently a first year student at a graduate level Social Work program. These are recommendations from my professors and helpful readings that I found that I believe will make me a better social worker and highly recommend to current and future social workers! I’ll continue to update as I continue and even complete my studies 💜

Note: The American Social Welfare Policy book I listed is for the 6th edition; I highly recommend the 9th edition instead, Stoesz’s insights are very helpful

Indigenous books written by Indigenous authors, about Indigenous Peoples history on Turtle Island, besides on settler colonialism, reconciliation, and Indigenous resurgence - includes fiction, non-fiction, poetry, short story, and comic books

So one of the parts that stood out to me from this book was her learning from her dad’s library before things got bad. Plant identification, learning to preserve food, cook those kind of skills and others. This will probably end up a long and I’m also super aware that homesteading and it’s like has become a wee bit radicalised by the right, so whilst I’m gonna try to make a effort to avoid those authors it’s easy to miss. Just let me know if someone is atrocious Also suggestions very welcome!
