For some reason, while reading all of the other series in the larger Love in Bloom series, I skipped these. If I can remember back that far, I think I somehow missed the first couple and then found out they didn’t play as significant a part in the overall series, so I skipped them intending to get back to them eventually. I guess seven years later is eventually?
It’s a bit strange going back so far when I regularly read this author’s new releases. It shows me the ways she has grown as a writer. Back when this story was published it was because she was asked by fans to be a bit more risqué and sexy with some of her characters. And while the people in this story aren’t bad, by any means, they are also a bit looser with their language. A lot of this author’s stories are already steamy, some more than others. There is more steam in this story, but I don’t find it drastically different from what she writes present day. Yet, back seven years ago it may be a bit more than those books incorporated.
This story is only about 200 pages so if you’re not a fan of insta-love this is your fair warning. The book spans less than a week and this duo fall in love fast. Logan and Stella aka Stormy have great chemistry but a lot to overcome. Logan is a protector by nature and Stella has never had anyone to protect her before. She used to trust easily but is now on the run for her life from a terrible ex-boyfriend. Others have gotten hurt when they’ve tried to help and she wants no part in pulling anyone else into her drama. But Logan doesn’t scare easily and makes it his mission to set Stella free from her ex and everything that haunts her.
I found this story to be a quick read with romance, heat, and a bit of suspense thrown in the mix. I’m looking forward to reading more from the Wild series as well as the Bad series, which is similar to this one. It was interesting to visit with some characters that I haven’t read in years and seeing them before they get their HEA. Such as some of the people from Sugar Lake who figured prominently in this book.
**Note: If you’re curious as to where the Wild Boys After Dark series falls in the overall Love in Bloom series, it’s tucked in after Seized by Love (The Ryders #1) and before Surrender My Love (The Bradens at Peaceful Harbor #2).

0This book is a really fast read. If you aren’t into insta love or easy fixes, this isn’t the book for you.
Logan was interesting, especially his family history. He’s alpha without the asshole.
Stella felt too familiar. Good girl takes a walk on the wild side, hooks up with a really bad dude, and ends up on the run.
For me, there wasn’t enough to this story. I need a little more drama. The threat was neutralized way too easily.
I decided to read more of this author’s books because I fell in love with the Whiskeys but it might be that I just love the one series not all the books.
