Enjoyment: Quality: Characters: Plot:

My to-do list in two a fake date, a new job, and a way to get revenge on my evil Ex. Brian was the jerk that I was madly in love with six years ago. He dumped me via a text message out of the blue and disappeared. Now he shows up, as a single father and wants me back. No way that’s happening! Also, no way I am going to my sister’s wedding alone. My most recent Ex will be in attendance- awkward. I need a plus one to silence my crazy family. Even worse, I need to find a new job. So, when Brian offers to be my fake date AND a project at a lucrative wage. I see a perfect opportunity to get even after what he did to me. Three in one, a deal with no strings attached. Only it’s easier said than done. Pretending to be a perfect couple and stuck in the same bed for three days. The smells, the touches, the feelings and the secrets of the past. Seem to have their own agenda…. I let Carol go years ago, I know I need to fix this mistake. I was forced to turn my life around when an unexpected responsibility fell on my shoulders. I had to leave behind the love of my life, Carol. I did so in the worst way possible, through a text message. I never explained to her why. I was a coward. When our paths cross out of the blue, I will do anything to win her back. But she is reluctant to even talk with me. Who would after what I did to her? I know she needs a date for her sister’s wedding. She is struggling to find a new job. I offer her a deal she can’t refuse. Is there even an inkling of a chance this could lead to a rekindled relationship?

Carol and Brian were in a relationship several years ago. Then one night he broke up with her without giving her an explanation. Worse yet, he did it via text message! Carol has never forgotten how he treated her and it really has colored how she has thought about relationships ever since. Recently, she broke up with a man and now she is without a date to her sister's wedding, and the man she broke up with will be there.

Brian has recently returned to town and he's also now a father to a cute little boy. He has made getting Carol back his mission. Carol's first reaction is ARE YOU JOKING? But then she realizes that she needs a date for the wedding and she doesn't have a whole bunch of other options. He also offers her a job, so things will be smoother for Carol; she just has to suffer through a long weekend with him glued to her side.

I would have loved this story and the way that it was resolved but there are storylines and points that were brought up and then never really resolved. It's alluded to that Carol had severe depression following Brian leaving, but it's never really talked about. Brian did sort of explain why he left, but I felt like it should have happened sooner. It happened at the end after they had already mostly decided to restart a relationship. I did love both of them, though, and there was a happily ever after so I was mostly okay with the book.
