Fiction has always been where truth hides. Across horror, thriller, literary fiction, fantasy & mystery every book on this list has something to say about power, who holds it, who destroys it, and how it reproduces itself.

I have no idea what I am doing here exactly. Just prioritising deconstructions/confrontations of the white, Western 'classic' canon for now, however the goalposts/parameters might change!

Not intending this to be exhaustive - there are many lists on Austen, Dickens, The Great Gatsby retellings etc already! Just a few remixes for a range of classics.

Ever wondered what books of your nation are taught in other countries? Well, I always do. This is what we study in English literature (by any English speaking country) here in Italian highschools.

I only study English, so I can only do it for this language. If any Italian highschooler wants to add books mentioned by their text that I didn't have, or books their teachers made them study in class, they are welcome to do so.
