Setting aside the scientific explanation for the animal behavior, I enjoyed this book. It was something different for me: more thriller-ish than I'm used to. Not that it was particularly scary, just graphic in some parts.
I wonder if Patterson wrote the first half of this book and then walked away for awhile before finishing it, because the second half felt more forced than the first. I guess it was more serious because the plot/setting was more serious and the character(s) had aged, but it felt more like a personality change of the main character.

I wish I knew more about chemistry and physics to better argue against the 'cause' of the animal behavior presented in this book. Maybe if I knew more I would argue for it? Other than that though, I found this book to be interesting and made me think, for sure!
