I think I'll make a point of it to read a John Irving novel every year. A Prayer for Owen Meany is revelatory, The World According to Garp is a delight, and The Fourth Hand is funny, thoughtful, and consistently entertaining. It's the kind of novel you discuss with your dear friends and loved ones; the kind of novel that makes you consider your own priorities and your happiness with your life's path. It's the kind of novel that makes you a better person.
