3 stars, listened to as audio book.

I liked it, but mostly after half way through. I see some complain about the narration style, but Im pretty used to this style and it suits the book well. There are also the aspect of the innapropriate relationship, and well... it's icky. And its also pretty well written, and a good story. I kinda forgot their blood relation and then the relationship was pretty nice, but you know, its icky. But a book isnt bad beacause its a about bad things. The last half of the book is what made it a better for me.

It really got better after halfway through. It got raw, intense, sore, and I really felt for them and wondered how it was going to end. I was kinda dissapointed about the ending. But at the same time I get it. I just wish she would write more about the eating disorder and about the relationship and not just brush over it and make it seem alright. I get the critique some have that this isnt suitable for teens because of the theme. I think the themes in themselves are not bad for teens to read, but how it's executed. Daisy only starts eating because of the war, not because she is "cured" and that is interesting in its own sense, but for a teen today it would not help. Like, I can only be cured if I survive a war? And the relationship... she says she know it's bad, but in the end, the siblings accept it, Pipers new boyfriend seem to accept it, its just... normal. So that is a thing to think about before recommending this book to a teen.
