Enjoyment: Quality: Characters: Plot:

Rock bottom isn’t the end, it’s the beginning. On his deathbed, Beau’s father reveals a life-changing secret. One big enough to send him into a tailspin of boozing and denial for a year. When Beck, a single mom new to town, shows up at his automotive shop, he isn’t expecting to meet the woman who will tear him from depression and turn his life around. And she doesn’t expect to catch the eye of a man ten years younger than her. What would he want with a single mom with a baby? Each of them holds their own pain, both fight to understand and release their past, and together the two of them discover the truth about love and family.

4 ⭐️ because this book made me feel feelings. Mostly anger at the heroine, that I wanted to shake (her best friend finally tells her to stop fucking up), but also… the kink in this was something else.

Beck and Beau. Older heroine/younger hero. She has a 9 month old son. She was married, trying for a baby for years, but her marriage wasn’t going great. The day she finds out she’s pregnant her husband tells her he wants a divorce. He ends up leaving her for a younger woman, and SIGNING OVER ALL HIS PARENTAL RIGHTS. He tells her over and over he’s done with her and not interested in his son. So after all that —- she still keeps checking in to see if he wants to meet the baby, celebrate the babies birthday, anything. It’s the worst. I want this woman angry, instead she’s mostly sad that this scumbag is showing his ass over and over. When someone shows you who they are - believe them Beck!

Beau is book boyfriend material. He’s 26, going through a year of grief after losing his Dad. He’s got his own history to unravel, but he is 100% into Beck and her son from the start.

CW: the kink in this is …
