desi writers writing sometimes weird always amazing desi books that aren’t necessarily immigrant/diaspora books about being desi. would love for this to be turned into a quest!

Novels where the narrators are women who describe their world and thoughts about it through entirely their own lens that is ultimately pessimistic and self-indulgent. They seem a bit off to everyone around them and commonly exist in a bell jar “stewing in” their “own sour air” (The Bell Jar, of course).

Little books (roughly less than 300 pages) that are very strange—in premise or construction! So far, I’ve read most of these (a couple TBR), and happy to take suggestions!
