Recs if you like A Perfect Day for Bananafish...

A novel is a prose work typically above 40k words, though many fall between 60-100k. Anything between roughly 17k and 40k words is generally considered a novella, while works between about 7k and 17k words are classified as novelettes, with some flexibility ~

TL;DR - short stories with 7k-17k words. Get out of that slump.

For the gurlies that want to read more classics but finish in a day

This is a curated list of short stories that are must read for any literature enthusiast! Feel free to post your suggestions in comments.

Books mentioned in the banana fish anime, so I will finally get around to reading them :) aka the Hemingway and Fitzgerald bookclub.

A Bookclub dedicated to reading short stories and small books. Every month there is one chosen book from a list I use to randomly generate a number. Every sunday a short story from the book 'A Century of Fiction in The New Yorker (1925-2025)' is read also. @bitesizedbooks_ on twitter has the full schedule but this has the books all collated

Stories that can be found in the archives of New Yorker.
