I don’t know if I want to date or be Onyx. She is iconic and I absolutely love her. We slowly learn about Onyx throughout the book through flashbacks from her pov. A majority of the book is told through Ezekials pov but every couple chapters we’ll see flashbacks from Onyx as she’s growing up and towards the end we get a chapter in the moment from her. We also get several chapters from supporting characters pov in present time where we get to learn about them as well as the other characters including Onyx..

Speaking of Onyx I absolutely love that she’s the Don of the mafia family. I didn’t realize I needed a girl in charge until I read this. Now I absolutely need more because ICONIC. She is a baddie and after dedicating a whole pinterest board for her, I’m loving it.

Now Ezekial, baby, I love you but you had me feeling sus throughout the whole book. This could be my thing with not trusting men but ya know, vibes. I did love how we slowly learn about him. While a majority of the chapters are from his pov, he doesn’t share a ton about himself because he’s so guarded.

All the side characters were also iconic. And I loved how they were all based on characters from Alice and Wonderland, again, ICONIC.

I think the only thing I was a bit iffy about in the book was the feelings between Onyx and Ezekial. We didn’t really see them communicate that much so I had a harder time believing they had a connection outside of a physical one. He is supposed to be her bodyguard, with her all the time, but we only get a few scenes like that and they don’t do much talking. I just wish there were more scenes where they were being vulnerable because it really just felt like their feelings were just lust.

Besides that, I really enjoyed the book and read it in one sitting. I absolutely love Lee and will continue to read all of her books. If you’re into dark mafia romances, don’t mind some bloodiness, and you’re a fan of Alice and Wonderland vibes, I’d recommend this to you!
