If you want happy Matt Murdock, don't look for him with Brubaker.
Lady Bullseye continues the trend of Matt having a terrible love life, largely through his own choices. In this volume, collecting issues 111-115, the organization of asshole ninjas known as the Hand has fallen apart in the wake of the revelation that their leader Elektra was a Skrull (that went right over my non-Marvel reading head).
One of the Hand leaders has hired a new, deadly assassin named Lady Bullseye to cement his claim to power. Unfortunately for Matt Murdock, she has her own plans that involve (as usual) going after anyone Matt has ever cared about.
Matt meanwhile, is making more poor emotional decisions. Hard to blame the guy for not having his head on straight while his wife is in a mental hospital but
Dakota North, dude? Really?!
I will be so pissed if they turn her into another woman whose death/insanity Matt feels responsible for.
I found Lady Bullseye to be a much more interesting character than I at first suspected and I liked that her plans were more complicated than "let's just murder everyone Matt's ever loved." While it's almost never lighthearted, I like that Brubaker puts Matt through the wringer while never turning him into a one dimensional character. I may not agree with every choice Matt makes but at least I can understand why he's doing it. And I gotta say that I love having Foggy, Becky, Danny Rand and Dakota North as secondary characters and Matt's main support.
Overall, another strong volume in the great Brubaker/Lark run on Daredevil and I'm very curious to see where they take Daredevil in the last volume of this run.
