Recs if you like The Last Murder at the End of the World...

Like Agatha Christie but in the modern world. Please leave recommendations!

Someone made a post about this and I thought it was a great list idea. I know I really need books that have more positivity and hope for the future, so hopefully this will help someone else too.

Lots of titles are [insert thing or person] at the end of the world, so let's group them together.

Murders happen everywhere, all the time, to humans and aliens alike. Time to solve them among the stars. (Book 1 of series exclusively)

dystopia fiction / near-future speculative fiction that hasn't hit huge bestseller lists, gone viral, etc. (for this list I'm focusing on dystopia without a heavy romance line)

Need to feel like you're far removed from everything? These books all take place on islands - big or small, real or made up, friendly or scary. I won't add books set, say, on modern day Bali, because that's not the feeling of remoteness I'm aiming for (unless it's about Bali being cut-off from the rest of the world or some such). sometimes forgetting is for the best, but sometimes it definitely isnt and might leave you in quite a pickle.

whether its their whole life or just a crucial moment, each of these books has a character who forgets something they really shouldnt have.

The Seep- for the person who kind of wished Carol spent more time with her grief

The Last Murder at the End of the World- for the person interested in the relationships between of village of the joined and a couple humans

To be Taught if Fortunate— if your favorite scenes were the ones of getting the signal and the telescope scene

One Last Stop- lesbian yearning for a person you can’t fully be with

Frostbite (nonfiction)- for the person lowkey interested in refrigerated supply chains

Pairs of books that have odd similarities, from titles (ie 7 Evelyns) to plots.

if you read these, youre honestly so cool and have such a great taste.

These are fantasy and science fiction books with incredibly unique worlds. Half of the fun of reading these is figuring out wtf is going on and how the world works.

Cozy or not, the vibe is pumpkins, murders and mustache-man.

Includes supernatural, sleuth and some YA.
