Luke is a widowed cowboy rancher who is in over his head with everything he has to do along with raising his daughter, Lily, alone. Harper, Luke's mother in law, asks Riley, a young lady that she knows to come to the ranch to help Luke care for Lily as her nanny and a housekeeper. Riley is happy to come help and Lily is immediately taken with her. Luke is upset at Harper for bringing Riley into their lives, he feels like they don't/didn't need her and she's just interfering because there is no way that she can stay forever. He doesn't want them to come to rely on her and then she'll be gone (he doesn't want Lily to go through losing someone again like her mother). Riley leaves after three weeks and goes to work for the rival ranch. She finds out some information about their plans and tries to warn Luke but her attempts are thwarted. Luke has hired someone else, but she doesn't work out either. There are lots of machinations on the way to a resolution and lots of people who interfere. It's an intriguing story with lots of suspense and a little spice.
