Barbarian's Touch (Ice Planet Barbarians, #7)

Enjoyment: Quality: Characters: Plot:

When I wake up on the ice planet, I’m scared of everything: this place is cold, silent, and the locals look more like blue devils than aliens. To make matters worse, one of the strangers decides I’m going to be his girlfriend and kidnaps me away from my sister. I’m completely and utterly alone. What’s a girl to do? Well, this girl escapes.  Of course, that means I go from frying pan into the fire, and my situation gets even more dangerous. Just when I have no hope left, a new hero appears. Sure, he’s blue, horned, and has a tail. He’s also fierce, protective, makes me purr... and thinks I'm perfect. But is what we have real or just a mating instinct?

I liked the inclusion of a deaf character, though I can't speak to how well it was done overall. (But that she can 'teach the computer ASL'... that was quite far-fetched, but whatever, this is delicious alien smut.)

Rokan was an interesting hero, especially since he seemed to have some sort of psychic ability, which is an element that hadn't been mentioned before or really seen. It was implied that the healer has a special cootie, and so does Rokan--intrigued to see if that goes anywhere in the future books.
I found Rokan to be an absolute saint, he was so amazingly sweet and PATIENT with Lila!
Lila thankfully had some growth and became more resilient over the course of this story, considering she starts off so wimpy and weepy. A lot of her confusion and fright is very understandable, and on the one hand it was cool to see a personality that was handling things so differently; but there were multiple moments I was exasperated with Lila and wanted her to quit whining and suck it up.
A maybe interesting series development was the interaction with the metlaks and their maybe language skills; plus that whole fruit cavern thing. We shall see.
