Recs if you like The Book of Disquiet...

For when you need to wallow in melancholy and misery: a collection of pessimistic, cynical, downbeat, depressing, doom and gloom fiction for my disillusioned friends.

I guess you could call it liminal...

These are books that dissolve the edges of reality...quiet, uncanny, and often profound. You’ll find yourself suspended in dream logic, where time is slippery, identity flickers, and language floats like fog. Perfect for when you crave something liminal, lyrical, or just plain weird in the softest way. Read them when the world feels too loud and you want to disappear...but beautifully.

From Percy to Pessoa — a literary gauntlet wherein each book becomes progressively more complex in writing style, structure, and/or vocabulary. Percy Jackson is our baseline, and Pessoa my personal biggest fear. Selections are almost entirely unrelated by subject matter, and obviously limited by my own inexperience and preferences. Good luck!

(Listed in descending order because I did not plan far enough ahead). If you’re still unsatisfied after this, go read Kant or something.

My attempt to not be dumb. A mix of books across time and space chosen purely for their killer prose.

capturing feelings of discontent, dissatisfaction, or existentialism one book at a time

A collection of books about people who are lost inside themselves. Alienated, detached, depressed, searching, unraveling or simply trying to figure out what the hell it means to be alive.

An intentional curation of books whose characters are navigating through the affliction of loneliness. Reading varied perspectives on this theme shows how loneliness can alter lives and the different ways in which people respond to it, endure it, and search for ways to escape (or even give in) to it.

a collection of existential crises, surreal detours, grotesque little creatures, and the occasional philosophical cockroach. somewhere between the absurdity of being alive and the absurdity of trying to understand it.

Trying to pass my exams
