Not really my thing but it was a gift and it is short so here we are. Three short stories, all fit within 55 pages, you can't really expect an abundance of plot or character development here. The "other stories" (The Kiss and The Two Volodyas) lacked any meaning or lesson or overall purpose. The main story, Gooseberries, touches on some social topics with a hint of philosophy or existential crisis but overall the vibe is of typical 19th-century Russians with questionable remarks about women and dull explanations of mundane everyday habits.
