I moved to Howling Cove to get out from under the oppressive thumbs of the alphas that run the city I grew up in. Although Howling Cove only has a population of 11,000, I thought I should be able to blend right in as any other basic beta might. I find an apartment with a quirky ghost that overlooks the cove the town was named for and a job at a souvenir shop that hypes up the haunting lore of the cove to tourists. Just as I’m finally feeling the freedom and peace I so desperately sought, I somehow catch the eye of the alpha pack. And although I think I can get away without much trouble and return to my anonymity, it's their omega that stops me in my tracks when he gives me those big brown eyes and insists that I join their pack. As I’m struggling to deny him, something is wrong at the cove. Something that’s ending in visitors coming out looking like they’ve been petrified, like vegetables, like something has broken their minds. Nobody can figure out what’s happening - but I think the ghost I live with might have some answers. This is a polyamorous story with content not suitable for those under 18 years of age due to graphic content.

Overall, I really liked this story. Katiya is finally free after growing up in an oppressive community where alpha ruled and abused betas and omegas. Her fear and anxiety isn’t solved by meeting her guys, if anything it escalates because they are mostly alphas. I did feel like the story starts a little slow - she doesn’t meet the guys until about 20% in, and I do feel like there Amy have been more too many guys in the harem for this stand-alone. Anson and Cohen didn’t get much time and seemed interchangeable to me. Tristan was unique and probably one of my favorite - along with Reed, but I didn’t feel like Tristan got much time with Katiya. When it came to her relationships with Reed, Gideon, and Felix, I loved the story. Seeing Katiya and Reed deal with their issues had me in tears at times. There is some definite spice as the story progresses. Honestly, I feel like this could have been a fun, sweet series with Katiya and her guys solving some mysteries. There are some open questions, that I assume will be answered by spinoff’s - or at least, I hope we get to see more of Howling Cove :)

I have mixed feelings on this. I loved Alpha Hunted but this did not live up to my expectations. The ghost story/scooby mystery detracted from the overall character development since neither were ever fully explored; especially the Alpha’s pasts and personalities.
