0This story didn’t touch on Anna’s past kidnapping very much, but what we do learn is concerning. Yet, there is so much going on in her life right now it’s quite easy to forget she still has that hanging over her head.
If you haven’t read the first book in this series, Disorderly Conduct, you may want to stop reading this review here. While I don’t give spoilers in most of my reviews, my review of this story will have info that could spoil the first book for you. Plus, this is a continuation series with the same main character throughout so it’s really meant to be read in order.
I know not everyone will agree, but I think most do, when I say I adore Aiden. Anna has a lot of options out there when it comes to the men in her life, but I feel as though Aiden is the right one for her. Her devotion to him being a good person was tested in the first book. It’ll be pushed to its furthest boundaries in this one. Yet I couldn’t help but feel the same as Anna, there’s just something about Aiden that makes me think he couldn’t possibly be the bad criminal he’s painted to be by the police and others. And regardless of if he’s “good” or “bad”, it’s obvious he will do everything in his power to protect Anna…yet he cannot seem to stay out of her life. Their connection is real and it is strong.
As usual, Anna finds herself in outrageous and often dangerous situations over and over again. Her likability, good intentions, and quick mind keep her mostly out of trouble. But not totally out of trouble. It’s a lot of fun to go along for the ride with her either way.
There’s another mystery solved in this story. We learn a lot more about the inigmatic Aiden, Anna finds another lawyer friend to lean on while trying to find ways to set her sister up with her other lawyer friend, some old school days rivalries are possibly put to rest (but maybe not). Yet we’re no closer to finding out where Anna’s childhood abductor is and what he’s up to.
I’m enjoying watching Anna and those around her get in and out of trouble. I’m especially appreciating all of the love connections. I’m really having a lot of fun with this series and look forward to more of Anna’s antics.
