Declan is a billionaire and he has a son that he is raising by himself. He is set to inherit the family business but his father is stipulating that he has to be married/engaged in order to inherit everything. He knew Felicity some years ago but they were never really involved with each other because he is quite a bit older. He gets her to agree to pretending to be his fiancé and he also gives her protection from her abusive ex.
At first I didn't like either of the main characters in this story. They seemed superficial and shallow but they got better as the book went along. They show real growth both personally and together and that's all you can ask for.
