I picked up this book because of all the highlights on TikTok. It’s like watching a trailer of a movie. But the movie itself? Was mid. That’s how I would describe my thoughts reading this. I could have just watched the highlights and it would have been a 5 star read. So to say I was a little disappointed is an understatement.

The grovelling was definitely superior. For 80% of the book, these men really had to put in work to get her back - like they should. But I got tired of it which is surprising. Grovelling is always the best bit of the book. But like the saying goes, everything is good in moderation. And this was just too much grovel. Literally even when they almost died she waited a whole month to be like oh wait they are to loves of my life because of a tree. By then I was well and truly over it and it didn’t have the same effect it would have when their lives were actually threatened.

Nicole. Just wow. I could see her for the snake that she was as soon as she first appeared in the book. As if Briar didn’t see the red flag that she was. I was so pissed off with Nicole it wasn’t even funny. I was waiting for Adelaide to lay her out but she never did. These men really be acting so stupid. It was good to read the gender roles reversed because it’s always the women who act dumb. The women were savage in this and I was here for it - except for Nicole obviously. It just really dragged the rest of the time.

The plot twists were good but I expected the FMC to be more badass. Seeing glimpses of Lara’s story was good, but I’m not sure I want to suffer this much for a HEA.
