The books that have always been there, warning that these things might be coming if we don't change. So pick one up, grab a fridge cigarette, and let it sharpen your rage into something constructive.

(Non)fictional books about revolutions, where the people have enough and overthrow the system. It's not just "evil emperor", it's a broken system that suffocates people.

This is not Star Wars: A New Hope ✨️, this is Star Wars: Andor ✊🏽

Books where violence, anger, and revenge are central themes.

All of these are from the list that Texas lawmaker Matt Krause in October of 2021 tried and in many cases succeeded to get banned from classrooms and school libraries. There are quite a few interesting and odd choices in there which is part of why I wanted to share this list on here. Not necessarily recommendations but there are some pretty good books on here. As well as a lot of textbooks

The most popular book of each year according to Goodreads (Posted by Sharon on April 1, 2025). In order of oldest (1925) to newest (2024)

dystopian: relating to or denoting an imagined state or society where there is great suffering or injustice.

In October 2021, Texas State Representative Matt Krause initiated an inquiry targeting a list of approximately 850 books in Texas public schools, alleging they could cause "discomfort, guilt, anguish, or any other form of psychological distress" regarding race or sex. The list disproportionately targeted LGBTQ+ topics, race/racism, and sex education.

This is my project to read through this list for myself - utilizing my local library system for access to these titles. Follow the journey or join along!

There are a lot of quests out there, and there are a lot of great graphic novels (and comics) in said quests. Here's a complete list (in progress) of all the graphic novels and comics that count toward quests!

Please send any I miss :)

Dystopian books that may feel too close to home for us, but also have a lesson or two about human nature.

With love and respect and hugs and kisses to DC and Marvel, they are only a tiny part of the comic world and there are so many others. These are comics I recommend to beginners😊

Suggestions welcome‼️

Note: I’m not including mangas or graphic novels on this list - I’m focusing more on the multi-volume ‘traditional’ comic (with a couple small exceptions to the “multi” part) :33

Any fiction you think an anarchist would really enjoy. Give your suggestions in comments below

"I want to know about elfs. I want to know about dwarves. I want to know about: wizards. I want to know about: goblins. I want to know about: cyberpunks. I want to know about: rampant AI. I want to know about: Master Chief. I want to know about: gay wizards. Okay? Like that’s what I want to know about." - Cameron Kunzelman

Media literacy test! Do these books enforce or criticize traditional expressions of masculinity? -I hate fight club- Suggestions appreciated!

This is a list with fictional dictatorships, that might be placed in the real world or in a fictional world. They all count as long as the regime in power was invented.

Dystopian books becoming more realistic every day, but they have some hope (which I think we all need), which is why I love these books.
