this is your reminder to read books by Black authors all month, all year, every year— not just during Black History Month. it’s crucially important to be able to diversify your reading and your bookshelves. expand your mind, your perspectives, your knowledge, and your taste. if you don’t know where to start, here are some recommendations!

Oftentimes nonblack readers act as though the only time of the year they should read books by and about black people is in February. Support books by and about Black people all year and not just one month out of the year cause that’s performative.

Shamelessly yoinked from a certain other reading app that shall not be named... this is a list of recently published (2025-2026) LGBTQ+ fiction across a spectrum of genres and identities!

(Disclaimer: I haven't read most of these, but so many compelling covers made me want to save them all in a list to continue referencing into the future.)

genre is fake anyways but for the sake of clarity, basically non-romance-genre (tho i do adore it too!) literary fiction with tender, interesting love stories and/or well-written sex and yearning, NOT necessarily any happy ending, however.
