"Just when you think you're having a scene without Simon, he drops in to remind you that everyone else is a supporting character in his catastrophe"
I really liked this book. I enjoyed most of the characters (I thought Agatha was a bit flat) and the story was really interesting. I loved how Rainbow Rowell took classic fantasy tropes and weaved them into her book, and made them funny. I liked the dynamic between Simon and Baz and I really enjoyed Penelope as a character. The world building was pretty good and overall I enjoyed the atmosphere of the novel. The way backstory got woven into the story was done well - and the relationships between the characters were well developed :)
Overall, this was a great book and I think I may pick up more Rainbow Rowell in the future :)
I thought this was amazing and a very fun read. This book read so quickly and was everything I needed to get out of my reading slump. I am no in the mood for more couple pairings like this. :) My true rating for this is a 4.8 out of 5 stars only because I had a few minor issues with it overall. But they are majorly minor and I totally recommend this. Beware you may be tempted to re-read it until you need to buy a new copy.
I had a difficult time connecting with the main character, a college freshman obsessed with writing fanfiction. I found her naivety annoying. The relationships in this book however, I found very compelling and well written.
