This is an emotional story about two sisters and how, each in their own way, resisted the nazi occupation of France. It's not a recurring read for me, I usually read about other perspectives in this historical period, and it was fresh to read about the perspective of a country that surrendered before the war even started. Some interesting conflicts and stories emerged from this.
All the elements of this narrative were phenomenally developed, the author captured the historical facts and immersed me into an epic narrative. It was emotional and stayed grounded in reality, no matter how difficult the subject was.
If you enjoy novels set in WW2, you will for sure like this one.
