Recs if you like How to Train Your Dragon...

You liked Harry Potter but you’re angry at the author for being a huge transphobe and you would like some alternatives because you don’t want to give money to her so she can finance transphobia and you have enough of Harry Potter’s racist stereotypes like Cho Chang and other problematic themes in this saga? You’re in the right place! I haven’t read all, if some are misplaced, let me know! Also, if you want more fantasy recs, I have a queer fantasy list! It is addressed to different ages.

in honor of disability pride month, here is a series on the colours of the flag! our fifth colour on this flag is red, which represents any and all physical disabilities. examples of physical disabilities include cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, celiac disease, dwarfism, diabetes, wheelchair users, polio, asthma, muscular dystrophy, cancer, scoliosis, ALS, arthritis and many more. books within this list will be both fiction and non-fiction. as always, feel free to comment any you recommend!

I know there are a couple other dragon lists out there, but a lot of them were missing some of my favourites, so I'm just making my own!

These books the dragons will play a significant role in the plot, even if the focus of the book isn't dragons themselves (like the Hobbit).

For books in a series, I'll only be adding the first one.

Feel free to drop suggestions! I'm trying to include all the dragon books I can.

A compendium of books featuring dragons

Just an absolute butt-tonne of dragon books, baby!!

Books that were adapted into movies (not tv shows). Let's make this list as long as possible!

(going to only add the first book in a series)

i love fantasy but really hate it when the dragon is evil. it's one thing to be greedy and selfish and want shiny things and be clever and kinda evil, it's another when they are dumb violent beasts :( they are my friends! also i created this list in hopes to keep adding new finds so pls feel free to suggest recs!

Who TF needs JKR anymore? We got way better books out there dude

These middle grade series may not have seven movies, a TV show, and a literal theme park dedicated to them, but they sure deserve it! Especially because they weren't written by JKR. All recommended by Pagebound users, and suggestions are always always welcome -- middle grade fantasy/mystery series-starters only, please! Let's foster a love of reading in kids without supporting bigotry and hatred.

YA and adult sci-fi/fantasy. Comment with suggestions!

because we gotta hit our reading goal 🫡 short books (around or under 200 pages) for when you need something in between longer reads or want to up your reading count 🥰 includes almost all genres and different age groups! and will definitely have some graphic novels because that’s my favourite way to speed through books hehe

how to get access to many books by reading one book (series)

aka. books with the most works on ao3 about them (fandoms with 10k+ works, in no particular order) (sometimes the fanfics may be about a movie adaptation rather than the specific book but still fits in the overall fandom)

Much like books to movies but solely focused on animated movies/series! Suggestions welcome!

fiction books with titles that sound like a how-to guide but teaching you something you probably don’t need to learn

please read something that isn't hp and don't give that lady money. alternatively, if you know of someone who says they like fantasy but their shelves are only filled with white guys, suggest one of these! (I've only added books I have read so if something isn't on there that you think should be lmk)

Keeping up with the 700+ books featured on Overdue since 2013

a collection of recommendations from the Made for the Movies forum

For the times you want a short read or need to finish a challenge fast.

All of these are less than 200 pages or no more than 5 hours long. Most are considered novellas, but some short stories have been included as well. No anthologies or collections.

These are book-to-screen adaptations that you didn't know were books! Feel free to recommend or make a suggestion! Please keep in mind some movie adaptations were renamed and may not have the same name as a book. Feel free to do more research or comment if you don't know which movie was based on the book with a different name. Note: this list also includes movie novelizations. 💕 Credits to IMDB user, Goodreads, BookBub, and Buzzfeed for the book recs. (in progress)

I work at a bookstore and sometimes I bring people into the middle grade/ya section and am like...hey...I know we are above the age of 13, but trust me, these are amazing 10/10 and you should read. These are some of those books :)

Also feel free to suggest your favs too! Especially the ones that you never hear anyone talk about!!
