I am so obsessed with this book—I read it a while back and now I've listened to it twice already, in the span if a couple months. It's brilliantly done and will immediately pull you into its world ... and its world manages to incorporate other realms/worlds by this author (Enchanted Forest, which you may know from [b:Unicorn Shifter Academy|58413055|Unicorn Shifter Academy|J.R. Thorn|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1624508939l/58413055._SX50_.jpg|91641216] and the Netherworld, which you may or may not know from her Netherworld Dreams story). We get to see some familiar characters and what they're up to now (which is set after their own books) and that's super fun as well.
Ayla is a villain but ... I expect you'll find yourself rooting for her from the start.
She's smart, doesn't take any (word I can't say here) and seems to vastly underestimate herself. At just 18 she's extremely powerful and insightful ... though as you read more into it, you'll learn there are reasons for this because continuity is perfect.
This is an absolutely addictive read that promises to only get more so as it goes in—cannot recommend enough.
I do recommend reading it after the [b:Fortune Academy: Year One|46227269|Fortune Academy Year One (Fortune Academy #1)|J.R. ALL the stars.
