Will Dani find love this Christmas? Or will she be Single All The Way...? When Dani's boyfriend (and boss!) dumps her for a younger model, the only silver lining she can see is to be able to spend Christmas at home with her family after years away. Determined to surprise them, Dani turns up unannounced in her hometown, excited to see that the festive season in Marram Bay is in full swing with Christmas lights twinkling on every corner. But disaster strikes when she finds her parents' house is empty and they appear to have gone away on holiday! Christmas alone and single is not ideal, and when Dani starts bumping into old friends, neighbours and potential love interests, she can't face telling them the truth. So in a panic she claims to be home to throw a Christmas party for the whole town - easier said than done with 12 days to go before Christmas... As the fake party approaches, little does Dani know that there may be someone there under the mistletoe for her, if she can just let her guard down and see them... A laugh-out-loud festive romantic comedy from top 10 bestseller Portia MacIntosh, guaranteed to put a smile on your face this Christmas. ✳Please note Single All The Way was originally released as a novella. This new edition is inspired by the original but is a full-length story with a brand new plot and ending.

Dani is single, after finding out that her boyfriend/boss has been cheating on her. However, she is still working for him and still has to see his face whenever she is in the office. She has also (starting from the new year) been demoted.

Dani is slightly annoyed as Tom (her ex) didn’t mention that management are wanting to branch out their offices around Yorkshire (where she is from). She decides to befriend a member of the management team, Rex, so she can get a job in one of the offices, however he also wants something from her…pretend to be his girlfriend to make another member of staff, Madeline, jealous. Once he got Madeline attention, he realises that he doesn’t like her.

She arrives home for the holidays, hoping to surprise her parents, however she’s in for a surprise as she finds out her parents are celebrating Christmas in France. As Dani begins to settle back down in her hometown, telling the truth is not as easy as it seems, so instead she has invited the town for Christmas party, and slowly, everything she left behind when she left for London, slowly comes back to her. Her crush/best friend Ben is also home for holidays, and Dani is hoping that they can continue from where they left off. However, she soon realises that she doesn’t have feelings for Ben anymore, and as she talks to Rex more and more, she realises that she likes him and learns that the feeling is mutual. I mean don’t get me wrong, it would have been cute for her and Ben to get together as he admits he had a crush on her, but I enjoyed seeing her relationship develop with Rex and how they interacted with one another. They were definitely made to be together. </spoiler>

It was hard for me to get into this book, I had such high hopes for it. I really loved the beginning and was disappointed that Rex and Dani did the kind of “long distance” in the middle of the book. I was hoping for more romance in the middle, but it focused more on Dani getting comfortable back home (which I loved minus the literal lying to everyone). I hated that Dani constantly was lying to everyone and then got mad when Ben called her out, while it made her character real it was so frustrating (especially when she was all talk about how old and mature she was). I was surprisingly disappointed on this one, but i overall enjoyed it and it got me excited for Christmas time back at home.

This book was a great Christmas themed romance read! I really enjoyed reading it. Portia MacIntosh really knows how to keep a reader entertained. The protagonist Dani was very relatable with her awkwardness & self consciousness. This book has fake dating and enemies to lovers tropes in it which are some of my favourites. Overall, this book was a fun, quick and cute Christmas romance read. It reminded me of a Hallmark movie! (in the best possible way) Looking forward to reading more Portia MacIntosh books now!
