    Enjoyment: Quality: Characters: Plot:

Is it any surprise that I picked up another Kennedy Ryan book to close out the month? Not really. While this isn’t my favorite of her books, I’m intrigued by this series and how it builds on its two central characters. This one felt a bit lacking in both character depth and romantic progression; everything moved a little too quickly, and the conflict felt immense for the speed of the romantic connection. The concept of a soulmate found too late or at the wrong time is intriguing and bittersweet, though. I saw other readers describe this as "heavy angst," which is probably the best way to sum it up. I’ll definitely keep reading this series, but this one left me with all the feels.

The river is clean and pure and strong…And it’s a force of nature. Literally. It cuts through rocks. And once the course was set for that river, there’s no changing it. It stays the course.

This story is NFR. Too much angst. However, her writing is still so compelling.
