From USA Today bestselling author Sav R. Miller comes a marriage of convenience romance inspired by the Eros and Psyche myth. Cash Primrose takes his namesake seriously. As a successful environmental lawyer, work is his focus, and he has no room on his plate for anything else. That is, until an ex-ballerina gets herself into a bind at an underground auction, and he becomes so enamored with her that he ends up placing a bid. A quarter of a billion dollars later, and suddenly Cash is married to more than just his career. Not to mention, his new wife is a complete nightmare. As the middle daughter of a once-prominent crime family, and her mother’s former punching bag, Ariana Ricci is no stranger to grappling for control. She relies on seduction and violence to get what she wants, and thinks her new husband will be just as easy to manipulate as the men she’s used to dealing with. Only, Cash is different. He won’t touch Ariana, doesn’t retaliate when she lashes out in anger, and, in spite of their temporary status, sticks up for her when he could just let her get into trouble. He isn’t exactly kind, but perhaps the stoic, secretive lawyer is precisely what she needs to start healing once and for all. Souls and Sorrows is a dark romance inspired by the myth of Eros and Psyche. It contains material not suitable for all audiences. Reader discretion is advised. I am loving this series so much. It's so much fun to read and I love the characters.

And the fact that we keep getting to see the other characters just makes it better. And considering how connected everyone is, I can't say I'm surprised.

Where we are now, Kal is married to Elena, Ariana is married to Cash, Lenny is engaged to Jonas, Alistair is engaged to Cora, and then Riley is with Aiden. The next book will be about Aiden's younger brother, Grayson. And to make everything full circle, I think Violet will be who he is paired with. Her name isn't mentioned in the synopsis as it is structured differently than the blurbs in the first couple books. But going with the clues mentioned, I feel it has to be Violet. Plus, so far, she is only character we've been introduced to, aside from Stella, who has some relationship with the other characters. Even Riley is linked in because of Boyd, who is friends with Kal. So Violet just fits best and I can't wait to see through her eyes.

Cash took me by surprised. When getting Lenny's POV in "Oaths & Omissions", he came off as a pretty serious, structured kind of guy. And he was here as well. But now we get to see what's behind the curtain. Seeing how freely he laughs by the end just makes me laugh in return, trying to picture the man I've created in my head actually doing it. And then there's the point that sets him apart from all the other men we've had so far. Cash had never been with another woman, at least that was what was implied when Ariana asked about his conquests. Though he did mention he hadn't really been interested in a woman since puberty but it's still surprising to think of someone like him as having never had sex before. But I like the change. Normally, the guys are pretty experienced, which matches with how it seems in real life as well [I am not saying all men are overflowing with experience, it's just no that common to find men who have zero].

And Ariana was the complete flip of Cash, having enough experience for them both.

I enjoyed the ending, getting to see both Ari and Kal get a chance to finally bury their last demon, to finally see the end of the person who destroyed them both.

I don't think I've ever hated parents in a book more than I hated these. Kal and Elena are pretty much the only parents in this entire series who were good. And one of them was a killer for hire! But they both still treat their kids with the love and respect that should be given to children, which is what not one single parent in this series did. One tried but was about 20 years too late to make a difference. Even Alistair and his mom, who seem to have a somewhat stable relationship, weren't the best. But she's probably the only parent aside from Kal and Elena who was at least somewhat good. She at least never abused her child or abandoned them or sold them off or tried to actually kill them.

Oof, I am not looking forward to meeting Violet's dad, if he's still around. And I know Grayson is Aiden's brother but I think he might only be his half brother. From what I know about Aiden's parents, I'll be surprised if they had another kid.

But, we will just have to wait and see. Just a few weeks and I can have it on my Kindle and can digest it.

For now, I think I'll go back in time a bit and head over to King's Trace. In the timeline, it does technically come first. I just didn't find it first. Oh well. Kal and Riley should be the only connections Monsters & Muses. If they make an appearance at all, I'll just need to work in my head that this is before Kal and Elena got together but after his ... relations with Carmen. And with Riley, it will likely be when she's recovering from what she went through with her mom. Or maybe even during it.

Only one way to find out.
