A beautiful violinist is haunted by a very old piece of music she finds in a strange antique shop in Rome. The first time Julia Ansdell picks up The Incendio Waltz, she knows it’s a strikingly unusual composition. But while playing the piece, Julia blacks out and awakens to find her young daughter implicated in acts of surprising violence. And when she travels to Venice to find the previous owner of the music, she uncovers a dark secret that involves dangerously powerful people—a family who would stop at nothing to keep Julia from bringing the truth to light.

I'll be honest, at first, I couldn't get into this book. But I kept going and it does get better - in fact, I read the last 2/3 in one afternoon!
Violinist Julia Ansdell finds a dusty old piece of music in a dusty old book shop. While Julia is playing the music, her daughter does some very bad things. And Julia's husband doesn't seem to understand what is going on, but only feels like Julia is the one who needs help.
This story is intertwined with the story of the composer who is caught up in the horrors of WWII. How the 2 stories cross and ultimately blend is a masterpiece of storytelling. Like I said, I was initially reluctant, but it really is a beautiful story in the end.
I received an advanced reader's copy of this book in exchange for a review.
