In the Eye of the Beholder
Nonfiction books and essays about visual art and how it functions as a mirror to ourselves. They discuss art's meaning, its interpretations, how art changes through our eyes, the effects of systematic discrimination upon how art is made and consumed, and help to develop better, more critical, and more introspective ways of looking at art and our museums.

Nickelback aside, being a photographer used to be one of my dream jobs. But photography schools were costly (and by then I already had to give up to arts uni), so I moved onto books and the good ol' trial and failure to learn. Didn't become one, but I still love photography šø
Note: making this list sent me in a rabbit hole of finding books on history of photography and not only the "how to take photos" ones, so I haven't read some of these! Plus, some are also on archive.org!
