Recs if you like The Rook...

A list of well-rated sci-fi and fantasy books featuring a woman who's 30 or older as the main character. I'm open to recommendations - I'd love this list to be long

'It seemed to me that anything unpredictable was named dangerous by Gods and men alike. But the word UNPREDICTABLE seemed reserved for women alone. A woman they cannot control, whether Goddess or mortal, is a dangerous woman' Hekate by Nikita Gill. A list of "dangerous" women. Please recommend any dangerous women I missed!

protagonists with amnesia or memory loss trying to figure out what happened/is going on

These are books that involve a truth, a secret society, a government agency, an underground bureaucracy that is just out of reach of the average citizen. The ratio of fantasy to reality is oddly specific here, as well as a specific fantastical/romantic/dreamy vibe. Not all urban fantasy fits the brief, but most books will have urban fantasy elements. Definitely taking recs!!

sometimes forgetting is for the best, but sometimes it definitely isnt and might leave you in quite a pickle.

whether its their whole life or just a crucial moment, each of these books has a character who forgets something they really shouldnt have.

A list of (mostly action) books about spies, secret agents, assassins, people faking their identities, bringing down a corrupt politician and jumping out of a window while bebop jazz plays in the background.

Note: I haven't read all of these! And I'm always looking for more, so I'm totally open to recs :)!

A list of sci-fi books recommended to me as a sci-fi novice.

Multiple or dissociated selves/minds, one body. Some were intentionally written as plural rep, some were not. I mainly picked what I found relatable to my system and what other systems have recommended as good rep or relatable.

There are no genre barriers here.

I tried to avoid books where the plurality is treated by the author as an inherent problem/evil where the only solution is to be free of it.

Excluded stories where the plurality is a reveal.

Fantasy set (mainly) in (a version of) London

This is a list of books that at least one person thinks you should read. A book that, no matter who you are, is worth giving a try. Out there in the world, this is someone's favourite book. They wish absolutely everyone they know would sit down and read it. Will you give any of these a chance? The books chosen for this list are members of the community, as well as my coworkers at the bookstore I work at.

genre books (sff, horror, thriller) with one of a kind characters who stick with you after the book is over.
