Juliette Cross

Enjoyment: Quality: Characters: Plot:

Lola Landry stares through the window of her locked car with the keys in the ignition and the radio blaring Beck’s “Loser.” While standing there and sweltering in the soupy Tennessee humidity, she wonders how her orderly life had crashed and burned so badly. Then her high school nemesis saunters up in all of his tall, strapping, fireman-to-the-rescue glory, slapping her with the humiliating proof that it can always get worse. When the uber-confident Jedediah Lawson requests a date in return for popping her lock, a lightbulb goes off. Revenge is sweet. He would make the perfect victim—guest, that is—for her next podcast episode on Kiss and Tell. What shocks her is the casual way he not only agrees to the post-date interview on air, but ends up hijacking her audience and wooing them with his swoony, southern charm. Not even a low score on the date-o-meter can dissuade the man or keep her fans from demanding more of the charismatic Jed. What’s worse, she secretly wants a second date with this man who is so different from his teenage self. His unwavering patience and dimpled smile erodes her will, until she breaks the Kiss and Tell rules by agreeing to a second…and a third date. It’s a disaster. Not the date. They’re wonderful. The disaster is that she is falling for a man she once dubbed Jockstrap Jed. 'Parks and Provocation' is a full-length contemporary romance and can be read as a stand-alone. Book#2 in the Green Valley Heroes Series.

I actually became a fan of The Wiston Brothers and Penny Reid because of Juliette's podcast Smart Women Read Romance, so when I knew that Juliette will be writing in the Pennyverse I was SO EXCITED!
This was one of my most anticipated books of the year and I was super lucky to be able to read an eARC, thanks to the author for the digital copy.

Parks and Provocation is a super sweet and fun book, I laughed out loud A LOT, I loved the witty humor and that has a dual POV.
Jed and Lola were highschool nemeses that actually were attracted to each other, but never did anything about it, and now they have their second chance. They see each other after many years when she leaves her keys inside her car and he helps her, and what both realise is that the attraction is still there. For the sake of Lola's podcast, they go on a date, but quickly realise that there is more between them.

Jed is a super charming character, a total cinnamon roll and Lola's journey is super relatable and a good picture of the young millennial/gen z work experience.
The podcast idea is awesome, I think that if that show existed, I would definitely listen to it.
Another fact that I loved, is the support that both characters had from family and friends.
Marly is such a good friend and I love her!!!
And OMG ALL THE CROSSOVERS WITH THE PENNYVERSE were amazing and funny.

I freaking love that Jed has been head over heels for Lola since forever

High school nemesises who had secret crushes on one another crash into one another when she returns home to start over.
It’s not often that someone writes a book with that awkward teenage relationship of secret crushes that somehow leads to one hurting the other and retaliation and misunderstandings.
Jed was shy but also a popular football player in high school. He had a thing for Lola Landry from jr high but he had no idea how to speak to her.
Lola had a terrible crush on Jed until he gave her the nickname Coca Cola Lola because of her glasses. She retaliates by calling him Jockstrap Jed.
Both hurt one another by being afraid and by being teenagers.
This kind of 2nd chance is my catnip. I loved watching them dance around each other. Jed is such a sexy cinnamon roll of a man. A fireman who is just fully into her.
Lola thinks she knows what she wants. Until Jed knocks her on her ass bully telling her how much he wanted her when they were teens.
