Reading suggestions for the Trans Rights Readathon! (Any year of course). Books with trans characters of any label (or any non-cis gender identity) by trans/non-cis authors. I have not read all the books in this list. Feel free to name your fave books by trans authors in the comments!

All of the books seen on display in Episode 1 of The Vampire Lestat, "Detroit," during Lestat's trip to the independent bookstore in Montreal, encountering some snotty cashiers.

An on-going attempt to track Asian authors in my Interested/TBR (and hopefully Finished) categories. Books are generally fiction/lit fic/fantasy with some memoirs. Authors span West to East Asia, the Asian diaspora, and mixed-race folx.

"self-help" books that situate themselves within both subjective experience and structural analysis - approaching healing and liberation as mutually informing individual and collective work.

Queer poetry to make you feel

I've participated in the Trans Rights Readathon the last couple of years and these are all the books I've read and would recommend (either during the readathon or the rest of the year)! 🫶

some of the rep here is found in side characters, but I'm trying to prioritize main character rep as much as possible!

English and French queer/2SLGBTQIA+ authors and/or storylines across all genres and formats that I read and loved, to help you pick your next queer book!

I wish we could make communal lists, because this would be a helpful one to be able to ask others to contribute to

queer books are a big part of my bookshelves. We see a lot of Lesbian/Sapphic and Gay/Achillean representations online but I also wanted to share other representations:Bisexual, Pansexual, Trans, non-binary, aroace, poly etc... but also in different genres than romances (there will be some of course)

These Diverse Baseline Challenge was created by @bookish.millennial & @themargherita.s (on instagram). In 2025, the goal is to read 1 book by a racialized author each month. This challenge is meant to encourage readers to try genres they historically don’t reach for, find new-to-them racialized authors, and to encourage reflection on our reading habits.

This is a mix of recommendations by the challenge organizers and myself.
