I’m glad I had a set with the first 3 books or I might not have read on—while I enjoyed book 1, it didn’t leave me NEEDING to read on in the series, as it wrapped up neatly. Book 2 spotlights a different pair - Sofia and Niko. Childhood friends/lovers and present-day bitter exes.
It starts out in the past and it’s super heartwrenching, fortunately I knew it was coming from reading book 1.

Overall:
A little sloppy. I don’t want to spoil, so I won’t state the specifics, but there was a continuity issue in this one that was pretty crucial to the overall plot. I did enjoy it, for the most part thanks to likable characters and I do like this world—it just could be a bit tighter. I recommend this author use beta readers or an astute editor to catch things like this that impact the reader experience.
It also recycles a major plot point from book 1, which is sorta lame.
Not bad by any means, but not great.
3 stars.
