    Enjoyment: Quality: Characters: Plot:

I am honestly not sure what I thought of this. It was a very “rapey”. Very. Rowena‘s brother forces her into marriage with a man so old that he keeled over and died even before the marriage was consummated. So he finds Warrick, a man with similar looks to the old dead guy, and forces Rowena (by threatening to murder her mother) to get pregnant. The man is chained to the bed, so you can imagine how Rowena had to accomplish her task. She very non consensually … beds him. Once Warrick is free, he’s determined to pay Rowena back. So not only does he rape her. Continuously. But he makes sure she has to suffer the shame of “enjoying” it. Then he keeps her hostage and forces he to be his servant. While continuing to take her to bed. Because for some reason, neither of them can resist the other.

Anyway, people try to convince Rowena that Warrick isn’t as bad as she thinks. And then convinces her to try to seduce him and make him fall for her. And somehow in the middle of all this, Rowena and Warrick actually do fall for each other. But something happens and he falsely accuses her of betraying him and she’s back to being the servant. And when he finds out her innocence, she doesn’t want anything more to do with him. But once again, everyone, even her own mama is like “he loves you, he’s not bad, he’s so sorry, he’s been through so much, blah blah blah”
