I loved this book. I had so much going on and was so busy the last few days, but I kept telling myself if I did such and such I could read one chapter. It was my reward for getting all the things done that needed to get done in my life.

First, it is a story centered around Christmas. One of my very favorite components in a book.

Second, Cole and Maia acknowledge to themselves how fast their feelings are growing for each other.

Most importantly, the dialogue seems so real to me. I have two boys, ages 16 and 20, and I felt 14 year old Jase's voice was so spot on for a young teenage boy. And, although Cole is his brother he is the age he could be his father, the banter between them is spot on.

The kind of environment Cole and Jase were raised in was hair raising. Christine Feehan did a wonderful job of getting the horrors across without dragging the story down to be too depressing. Every time it was heading in that direction the character of Maia would swoop in and save the day.

Speaking of Maia, what a beautiful character with a pure heart. Her "magic" was not what I expected and I found I actually enjoyed that aspect of the story.

I will be sure to hunt down more of this authors work to see if her other characters speak to me the way the trio in this book did.
