Books that remind me of the game Stardew Valley! Coziness, cottage-core, and a hint of magic.

Clever, arresting and intentional SFF books by genre writers who really know how to play with and control language; not even necessarily immensely quotable or flowery, but wholly competent and meticulous.

Non-exhaustive list of foundational reading for the fantasy genre; either foundational texts or classics that influenced the development of the genre and its conventions. Also some key modern texts + criticism.

Fantasy which exists within the confines of an elaborate hierarchical society, often with lots of rules attached. Lots of crossover with historical fiction and historical fantasy; might be good for fans of Austen, Wilde, &c!

A reading list that I thought I’d share consisting of all the books on the Brink Literacy Project’s tarot deck. I’m going for completionist and this is here for anyone who’d like to keep track and do the same, or who wants to read classic literature paired with tarot cards 🤗

(Apart from the first five, all books are in order, starting with the Major Arcana, and moving Ace to King through the Wands, Cups, Swords, and then Pentacles suit).

This is a not quite exhaustive list of notable fantasy works from the Tolkien era to pretty much today. In the case of series I have only included the first book. I know there are books I am missing so if you can see any let me know and I will add them. (Not necessarily in order of release date)

A collection of older, lesser-known, fantasy (or science fantasy) books written by incredible women. In a time when female fantasy authors were few and far between, these authors carved out their own space in the genre. These stories might not be mainstream hits today, but they are full of brilliant magic, deep characters, and/or worlds that helped shape the genre. (First in Series / standalones only for now - open to suggestions!)
